The only time your music gets attention is when you diss Sarkodie-Medikal jabs M.anifest

Medikal has thrown a subtle jab at Manifest after he released his latest song ‘Rapper 101’ which many people believe is targeted at Sarkodie.

In a tweet, 29th May 2019, Medikal believes the only way Manifest’s song can get any form of relevance and attention is when he throws shots at Sarkodie.

he “Omo Ada” hitmaker wandered what will happen to Manifest’s career if Sarkodie wakes up one day and announces he is done with music.

Medikal tweeted:

The only time your music gets attention is when you diss Obidi, so if Obidi stop de do music you die be that ????

The tweet has garnered a lot of reaction. Many of Sarkodie fans and sympathizers claim everything Medikal tweeted is God’s honest truth.

But Manifest fans, however, believe it trash. They have also attacked Medikal that he does not come an inch closer to Manifest so he has no right to throw jabs at the GodMC.

Manifest himself has, however, come out to state clearly that his latest song which has generated the whole brouhaha “Rapper 101” is not targeted at Sarkodie in any way.

Nobody will force you to be a Shatta Wale fan; It’s a calling ~ Shatta Wale

VGMA@20: Charterhouse was interested in tickets than security – Randy Abbey

The former manager of rapper Lord Kenya has criticized event organisers, Charterhouse for focusing more on tickets than security at the 20th edition of the Ghana Music Awards.

According to Randy Abbey, organisers of the Awards last Saturday, which was marred by a brawl between dancehall artistes Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, placed a premium on checking fake tickets than security at the venue.

“We are told that there were scanners there, what were those scanners there for? They were to scan tickets so the sanctity of the tickets was more important or was of a premium value than that of security it’s pretty obvious,” he told Samson Lardy Ayenini on Newsfile on JoyNews.

Mr Abbey stressed that “There were scanners there but the purpose of the scanners was to ensure that no fake tickets got into the process.”

Apart from the security lapses by the organisers, he was shocked by comments made by ACP Kwasi Ofori, Director of Operations at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command after the event.

He noted that ACP Ofori had said the police were not happy with the security arrangement of the event stressing that event organisers should invest in the security and safety of patrons.

According to him, he cringed when he read that ACP Kwasi Ofori had said that the Accra Regional Police Command will not allow event organisers to do their own thing when it comes to security and just request for police presence at the scene.

“Organisers would be required to provide some critical information including the number of people expected at the event, the kind of high profile personalities expected, seating arrangements especially where rival groups are involved,” Mr Abbey, who also hosts Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, read.

Dissecting the comments by Police Director of Operations’ comments on the event, Mr Abbey noted that, “I am sure but for this event, all us will take it for a giving that this is very basic” and that these should have been the requirements for any event.

He noted that even laymen would have picked up intelligence from past events, tweets and other sources to have been adequately prepared for such eventualities.

Mr Abbey observed that the decision by the organisers not to announce the winners of the last two categories - ‘Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ - helped curtail further escalation of the brawl.

He chastised “non-conformist” Shatta Wale for breaching protocol on the night and “for Stonebwoy how they got a gun in there and to take the gun out.”

He described the ‘Tomorrow’ singer’s action as “very reckless and very irresponsible.”
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were arrested by the police on Sunday over a brawl that erupted between their camps at the 20th anniversary of the VGMA.
Pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall
Artiste of the Year’ when Shatta Wale and his team were seen going towards the stage, their intentions were unclear.

Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, later claimed that he was going on stage to congratulate Stonebwoy. The two artistes were later released on Monday and appeared in court on Wednesday.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, when they appeared in court on Wednesday, pleaded not guilty to Offensive Conduct to Breaches of the Peace following the scuffle at the Awards.

Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of Display of a Weapon in a Public Place without permission.

I still love Shatta Wale but... – Sarkodie on complicated relationship

After releasing a diss track to jab his friend Shatta Wale, rapper Sarkodie says he currently does not know the type of relationship that exists between them.

He notes that there is no beef between them and that he still loves the controversial dancehall artiste in spite of things Shatta Wale has said about him.

Sarkodie in the freestyle video ‘My Advice’ released in October 2018, attacked Shatta Wale and described him as an insecure attention seeker.

‘My Advice’ was Sarkodie’s response to Shatta Wale after the latter described him as “very poor”.

“Your brand [is not] strong enough, If it is strong then keep quiet. You will soon [leave]…You showed d***, one day you will show buttocks. The last thing [that I] want is attention,” he rapped.

Sarkodie questioned the dancehall artiste’s claim to wealth and asked him to stop wearing cheap jewellery.

“Who gives an f*** about your chicken change property…f*** all the bragging and chill because honestly your whole bank account couldn’t buy you one tear rubber [Range Rover] Evoque but you claiming supremacy,” he jabbed.

Shatta Wale, in an interview on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM said that Sarkodie should advise himself first.

“Don’t tell me you want to advise me when you can’t afford your own car,” the dancehall act said.

But speaking on their relationship status in an interview on Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM with George Quaye Saturday, Sarkodie said he has nothing against Shatta Wale, whom he calls his brother.

“I didn’t see that [My Advice] as a beef. I saw it as conversations that we’ve had on the phone several times that I keep getting the opposite,” he explained.

According to Sarkodie, Shatta Wale had alleged that he ignored his fans while driving in traffic and he expected the dancehall act to have called him when he heard the reports.

Instead “if you sit on the radio that means either it’s not true or you want to frame something up,” the rapper noted and added that, if a stranger had said that, he would have ignored it.

Sarkodie, who was adjudged the ‘Artiste of the Decade’, revealed that he used to be in constant touch with Shatta Wale and whenever the latter says something negative about him, the dancehall act responds that, “You know say your mummy say make I watch your back.”

According to the rapper, he wonders if Shatta Wale is only doing it just for attention and that, all that he said on ‘My Advice’, he has told Shatta Wale before.

“People love you and it will never go away… so the extra stuff, maybe it is brand position, guess what if you say certain things that go overboard, I can’t still be smiling and act like it’s okay. That is when the ‘[My] Advice’ bit came in,” he said.

Sarkodie revealed his love for Shatta Wale “will never go away” and admitted that “I still miss it until today…but we need to straighten our relationship as a people moving forward.”

Asked what the current state of their relationship is, the rapper responded, “I don’t even know what it is at this point…”

See alleged killer of Chris Attoh’s wife

The police have released a sketch of a man believed to have killed Bettie Jenifer, wife of Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh, barely two weeks after the unfortunate incident.

Bettie, 44, and a mother-of-twins was brutally murdered on May 10 in front of about 10 witnesses.

According to reports, she left the office in the 6300 block of Ivy Lane and was walking to her car when a man armed with a handgun approached her.

When she tried to run away, the man followed her and fired at her multiple times, with at least one shot hitting her.

The gunman then fled in a vehicle.

Even though he has not been found, Maryland police have contacted cartographers to draw an image of the face of the killer based on the descriptions given by witnesses.

According to reports, the murderer is “a black male with a thin build and black hair, wearing a dark shirt and pants.”

Bettie was married to two men

Days after her death, it was revealed that the deceased was actually married to one Kendrick Jenifer who is currently in jail over drug-related issues.

Reports say Kendrick had threatened Bettie Jenifer after seeing wedding photographs of his estranged wife and Attoh.

Shatta Wale’s mother replies Okraku Mantey over Shatta’s conduct

Mother of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has pleaded with Mark Okraku Mantey to stop accusing her of supporting Shatta’s dirty games.

People are playing the blame game after Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale’s indefinite suspension from Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) following their brawl at this year’s event.

READ ALSO: Dj Phlexy - Hitz Vs Hitz mixtape vol one(1) mixed by Dj Phlexy

Mark Okraku Mantey, deliberating on the indefinite suspension of the two dancehall artistes on Hitz FM, said Elsie Evelyn Avemegah aka Shatta Mama must not be left out of the blame.

According to Mr Mantey, it is her fault that Shatta Wale behaves the way he does because she has supported him through all his dirty games.

The music producer, citing an example, said the ‘Gringo’ hitmaker once insulted him in front of his mother, but the mother failed to scold him, saying her son is straightforward.

In response to Mark Okraku Mantey’s allegations, mother of the ‘Ayoo’ hitmaker, Shatta Mama has cautioned Mark to stop misquoting and misrepresenting her:

“This is not the first time Mark is saying this…Mark hates me so much, so am not surprised ..but let me remind Mark that, I have never insulted him before, if you are owing somebody, and I tell you that my son wouldn’t lie for saying you are owing him, does it mean am supporting his dirty games?

“How can a mother support everything her child does?… We’ve only met once and that was when I went to his house with my son to collect money he was owing to my son which he paid …So, in this case, did I act correctly or not? Where did I go wrong? Even on that day, Mark rather insulted me…and it happened during the Bandana from Ghana days…I like Mark’s submissions on radio and on TV, I like him as a person but he should stop peddling those dubious allegations against me”.Shatta Mama told RazzNews.com

Shatta Mama, in a sorrowful mood, after pleading with the general public to forgive Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy over their brawl, advised Mark that:

”I’m in one of my trying times…My son and Stonebwoy are in court, give me the peace of mind to sympathize with them…more so, I will entreat Mark to go to Hot FM and Peace FM so that they give him some of the interviews I granted them and check whether I support everything Shatta does”.

Fault Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale but blame Charterhouse too – Sarkodie

Rapper Sarkodie says event organisers, Charterhouse cannot escape blame for last week's chaotic end to the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

While he is not against sanctioning Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale for the brawl at the 20th edition of the Awards, Sarkodie thinks organisers, Charterhouse should share the blame.

“We can condemn our brothers on their acts but we can’t rule out the root cause that provided that environment for the unfortunate incident... Charterhouse can’t leave all the blame on the artists. NO!!” the rapper said in a series of tweets.

Sarkodie was reacting to a decision by Charterhouse and the Awards Board to strip Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale of all the awards they won at the Awards this year.

READ ALSO: Dj Phlexy - Hitz Vs Hitz mixtape vol one(1) mixed by Dj Phlexy

The two artistes have also been banned indefinitely by the organisers.

The decision means that Shatta Wale is no longer the winner of the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ for ‘My Level’ and ‘Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year’ for ‘Gringo’.

It also means that Stonebwoy has also lost the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ awards he won on the night.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were arrested by the police on Sunday over a brawl that erupted between their camps at the 20th anniversary of the VGMA.

Pandemonium broke out shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ when Shatta Wale and his team were seen going towards the stage, their intentions were unclear.

Reacting to decision by the organisers, Sarkodie, who was crowned the ‘Artiste of the Decade’ at the Awards, said “Earlier I was encouraging companies to support a lot more with their sponsorships and my tweets might seem all over the place and may not even make sense but with this charter house decision, I think we gotto say it as it is ...

“Supporters of football are allowed to come support at the stadium but not at award nights where same teams and individual players are been awarded ... it’s not done,” he said.

Outlining why the organisers should also shoulder the blame for what happened, the rapper explained that, “First of all, big award shows like the Grammys BET MTV etc don’t open to the public to just buy tickets and come to the event (and it's for a reason )... it’s not a concert ... first mistake by Charterhouse

“As much as award nights are meant to celebrate artists, it stirs up a lot of emotions and therefore you wanna create the right environment to contain that. Charterhouse sells tickets for award show which is wrong (but I only understand due to lack of funds to put up a top-notch event like the VGMA), but it still doesn’t make it right.”

Sarkodie Insists it is improper “...to have our fans in the same building with us receiving awards, you know that could go left. Caf awards don’t open to the public so if you are a foot ball fan, you can cheer from home and when you disappointed, you can deal with that at home too.”

The two-time ‘Artiste of the Year’ winner faulted the organisers for creating the environment that tested the emotions of some of the artistes at the Awards.

“We have our free will on how we react but you don’t create an environment to test people’s emotions ... not everyone can take that. The fans were not wrong for cheering (they are there anyway) but that right there can get a lot in their feelings and even winners overreacting,” he said.

The rapper believes that Charterhouse “needs enough funds to make this show happen and that’s why I plead with sponsors to go in a bit more so we can still maintain this prestigious award ceremony and keep the standards high ... But for charter house to push blame on our brothers and leave their failings out, that’s wrong ... Security was bad and a whole lot I don’t wanna go into ...”

“Charter house y’all don’t have to act that quick with your decision cos we could do same to you ... My wish is for both sides (we as artists and you as organizers) to work on our mistakes and not one side taking a harsh decision,” Sarkodie concluded.

Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, when they appeared in court, pleaded not guilty to Offensive Conduct to Breaches of the Peace following the scuffle at the Awards.

Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etse Satekla, also pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of Display of a Weapon in a Public Place without permission.

The charges were read to them during their appearance at the Agyebeng Court, Wednesday.

The dancehall artistes, who have not seen eye-to-eye for years now, appeared in court with some family members and scores of supporters.

They both looked cheerful and responded to chants from their supporters as they walked out of the courtroom.

After the hearing, they were granted bail of ¢50,000 each with one surety and cautioned to be of good behaviour until the determination of the case.

They will re-appear in court on June 20.
